MONTREAL -- Montreal Canadiens have signed prospect defenceman Morgan Ellis to a three-year contract, the club announced Thursday.
He has played 4 seasons all with my very own Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in the QMJHL as captain, until recently when the Eagles traded away Ellis to Shawinigan while shipping Panthers prospect Logan Shaw to another team in a rebuilding effort. Ellis in his final year in junior hockey was drafted in the 4th round (117th overall) in the 2010 draft and has played 1 pre-season game.
In 54 games this year between the QMJHL's Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and Shawinigan Cataractes, Ellis has 13 goals and 46 points.
