Many of you probably heard about this through our Facebook page, but in case you haven't I thought I would post something up here.
I came across this article on Yahoo:
sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/ki...-183324481--nhl.html
To sum it up, an LA Kings Fan put a classified ad in a New Jersey newspaper and a Vancouver newspaper that said better luck next year. So I thought it would be funny to put something in a LA newspaper. We polled our FB fans, came up with something everyone thought was funny, and then got an overwhelming response to put it in.... so we put it in the LA Times Sports Section, for Thursday June 21, 2012
Here is what the classified ad looks like:
"Dear L.A. Kings Fan," Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every 45 years.
For all you Kings fans that are going to complain.... yes I am a Devils fan, and yes The Hockey Network is based in New Jersey. But that really wasn't the reasoning behind, I just thought it would be funny, and when we polled our 30,000 Facebook fans, they agreed by a wide margin. And before you get too upset, it's just a joke, calm down. I have nothing but respect for the Kings, they had an amazing run this year and deserved the cup, and the fans deserved the cup too - I know there are a lot of die-hards out there. And actually the guy who helped make TheHockeyNetwork.com, Tim, is a Kings fan and lives in LA!
If someone can post a picture of the ad in the LA Times today that would be awesome, I'd love to see it.
UPDATE:
Thanks friend of The Hockey Network Patrick Demsey (he plays Mike Eruzione in the movie Miracle) for taking a picture and sending it to us.
